This post is in response to advice given by Dr. Aerin Jacob at a recent lecture she gave at the Beatty Biodiversity Museum here at the University of British Columbia.
As I mentioned on Twitter, writing short summaries of my publications is on my to-do list. Writing such "lay abstracts/summaries" are one of the easiest ways for scientists to communicate their science. Whether it be the general public, eNGOs, or other academics, quick summaries can let people know the key findings and lessons learned from a research project. In response, I'll be posting quick summaries of the publications for which I was the lead author. I'll create links between the publications page on my website and its summary post, so that hopefully it's easy to follow.
