As another academic year comes to a close and we embark on a busy summer of research, we felt it was important to highlight some of the spring's events.
Our undergraduate researchers presented at the UNH College of Life Sciences and Agriculture Undergraduate Research Conference! Both posters focused on our stream ecology project in Garland Brook (Lancaster, NH). Our undergraduates identified and measured lengths for >4000 stream macroinvertebrates this academic year!
Olivia Fortin and Secilya Williams presented on percent dry weights among Orders of stream macroinvertebrates collected.
Jill Mapley presented differences in stream macroinvertebrates observed between two sampling methods (Surber samplers vs drift nets).
Our graduate students were also busy presenting, including at UNH's Graduate Research Conference! Emily Burke presented preliminary data on green crab movements in the Webhannet Estuary (Wells, ME).
Nate Hermann presented on changes in diets of groundfish in the Northwest Atlantic over the past several decades. Nate also presented at UNH's SMSOE's Graduate Research Symposium.
Chloe Pearson presented the movements of rainbow smelt post-spawning, tracked with acoustic telemetry. Chloe's presentation was selected as Best Poster by UNH Sustainability, and she received her award at the Sustainability Awards at year's end. Chloe was also awarded co-best poster at UNH SMSOE's Graduate Research Symposium!
